Royal Cake
A royal treat for chocolate lovers! Quick to make and quicker to devour.

You will need:

  • 1 Betty Crocker cake mix
    3 medium eggs
    1/3 cup (90ml) vegetable oil
    2/3 cup (150ml) water
    100ml water for the syrup

    Baking times as per the baking pan of your choice:

    Cupcake tray – 19 -22 minutes
    23cm round tray – 35 to 40 minutes
    25 x 9 cm (12 cup) Bundt cake pan – 40 to 45 minutes

How to Make

Pre-heat

oven to 180⁰C for 30 minutes. Grease the baking pan with butter and lightly flour.

Add

cake mix, oil, water and eggs to a bowl and whisk on low speed for 30 seconds. Then whisk on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour mixture into baking pan till it fills 2/3rd of the pan.

Bake

as per baking times directed above or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the pan comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, remove the cake from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.

While

the cake is cooling, prepare the hot chocolate syrup. In a pan cook the chocolate powder from the pack and water, bring it to a boil, stir well and keep aside.

Poke

the cake with a fork around the surface and pour the hot chocolate syrup slowly over the cake.

In a bowl

of hot water, place the ready to use chocolate topping pouch for a couple of minutes. Shake the pouch for 10 seconds and drizzle the topping over the cake.
