Ingredients

  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1 box Betty Crocker™ Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1/3 cup (72g or 80ml) vegetable oil
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1 cup (230ml) of water
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 2 eggs
For the filling
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 10 pieces of dates “No seeds”
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1 cup walnuts
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1 teaspoon ma’moul spices
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 3 teaspoons white or brown sugan
  • Small check mark in a circle icon 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Topping
  • Small check mark in a circle icon Walnut/referred topping

Preparation

  1. Heat oven to 180°C.
  2. Line bottom and side of round pan with cooking parchment paper.
  3. Grease paper with shortening; lightly flour.
  4. In medium bowl, stir cake mix, water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box.
  5. Pour half of the mixture into prepared pan
  6. Add the dates and mix the chopped walnuts, ma’moul spices, sugar & cinnamon into the mixture then pour the rest of the cake mix.
  7. Bake until golden.
  8. Once the cake is done, sprinkle with fine sugar, walnuts, and drizzle with honey to enhance the sweetness and spices.
  9. Slice and serve this flavorful Date Ma’moul Spice Cake.
